Dark Rooms Best for Great Sleep

Most of us were thrilled when Daylight Savings Time took effect on March 9 and stretched our evening daylight hours. But combine that with the increased daylight hours during late spring and summer in Canadian provinces and the northern U.S. states, and it means many more hours of daylight.  For many of us, more daylight means less sleep.

Trouble_SleepingLight can reduce the secretion of melatonin, the hormone that makes your body feel ready for sleep. Because of this, trying to sleep in a room that’s not dark enough can make it difficult for many people to fall asleep and stay asleep for the number of needed hours.

Research shows that people tend to sleep best when their room is pitch-dark.  They wake up more fully-rested when the room is just inky-dark or dusky dark. Getting quality sleep in a day-lit room is nearly impossible for many people.

What to do? Experts suggest using opaque or black-out shades to block light from the outside.  And that’s where Cozy Curtains can be of help. Not only are our shades custom fit to keep out the most light possible, but they are also insulated to keep out warm summer air.
